David Rodigan

Biography

In 1983 Rodigan returned to Jamaica to do a series of broadcasts for Capital. There he met Barry Gordon, a popular Jamaican radio DJ who invited him because he plays music. Barry G is still amazed by Rodigan's devotion to the history of reggae and his willingness to learn the history and origin of a song. He makes it his duty to experience it; he has mastered it. His dedication and passion towards his music has seen him succeed in a jam packed musical career. He became DJ for Ramjam Fm touring and hosting some of world's biggest reggae dance hall and drum and bass artists. His service to the music industry led to him being appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2012. Since then he hosted summer series for BBC Radio 2 and joined the team on Radio1 Extra.
