Twice Brit nominated English vocalist Elkie Brooks is known for her famous songs ‘Fool (If You Think It’s Over)’ and ‘Don’t Cry Out loud’ and her best-selling album ‘Pearls. Her powerful and husky voice gained her huge success in the 70s and 80s. She’s the “British Queen of Blues”, and has released more top 75 albums than any other female artist in the UK. Her early career began as a member of the short-lived group Dada before she formed Vinegar Joe with her future husband Pete Gage and Robert Palmer. After three albums and a reputation for wildness, the band parted ways and Brooks set off on her own solo career with her debut record ‘Rich Man’s Woman’.
