Lily Allen

Biography

Known for her satirical lyrics, retro sound and stream of witty pop songs, such as ‘Smile’ and ‘F*%K You’, Lily Allen has created a stir since she first rocked the British pop scene in 2006. Her debut album, ‘Alright, Still’, received immediate success at home and internationally, with Allen receiving praise for her originality. After a career break, she returns with her 2018 album; ‘No Shame’ is Allen’s fourth, and features contributors from Fryars, Mark Ronson, Giggs and others. Her latest work follows what Allen describes as an ‘identity crisis’, where she worked through personal issues through exploring and writing new music. Over the years, Allen has faced media attention for her work and candor. She famously took to her MySpace page for posting blogs and demos in her pre-fame days, gathering a reputation alongside thousands of fans online. She has been linked to many controversies, where Allen reportedly made remarks about several celebrities including Bob Geldof, Amy Winehouse and Noel Gallagher. Her song ‘Alfie’ was also linked to her brother, Alfie Allen, who plays ‘Theon Greyjoy’ in ‘Game of Thrones’. Beyond other celebrities, Allen’s outspoken and charismatic qualities relate to her political views, feminist advocacy and informed song-writing. She has embarked on many projects in her career, including collaborations with Basement Jaxx, Dizzee Rascal, Jamie Reynolds of the Klaxons, and several others. Her music has lead to platinum-selling and chart-topping albums, a series of world tours and a series of nominations and awards.
