Marmillion are the only band able to claim the title “most successful neo-progressive rock band of the 1980s” thanks to fantastic debut album ‘Script for a Jester’s Tear’ producing several Top 40 singles like “He Knows You Know” and “Garden Party”. Their second album ‘Fugazi’ came with a much more streamlined rock sound, pushing them even higher with “Punch and Judy” and “Assassing”.
After their singer, Fish, left the band in 1988, a new era of Marmillion was founded with keyboardist and vocalist Steve Hogarth leading the way. He was tasked with creating new lyrics for their songs after Fish had taken his with him, but that didn’t stunt the group at all as they kept on producing more and more music. In 2016, the group released their 18th studio album ‘F E A R’ (F*** Everyone and Run), peaking at #4 in the UK charts.
