Tenacious D

Formed of Jack Black and Kyle Glass, Tenacious D is an American comedy rock duo known for their high octane stage energy, theatrical songs and vulgar absurdist humour. Originally, the pair were part of the theatre troupe 'The Actors Gang' in the 1980's, quickly becoming best friends during a stint at the Edinburgh Fringe in 89. Soon after, the duo started a band, wrote their future hit 'Tribute' and began playing venues round LA like Al's Bar where they ran into Nirvana and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

By the 2000s, the pair had a 3-part show on HBO and had signed to Epic records, releasing their eponymous debut album in 2001 - with Dave Grohl on drums - to rage success. In 2006, they released their own film titled 'Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny', a fictional storytelling of the origin of the band, alongside its album accompaniment, following it up in 2012 with 'Rize of the Fenix'.
