This half English, half Tanzanian singer has been waking waves among the music industry, with self-proclaimed fans the likes of Michael Kiwanuka and Chance the Rapper supporting this rising star. He sold out London's Scala in 2016, and has since been working on his debut album. In the meantime he has release a self-titled EP and several singles, including his most recent 'Not Giving Up/ Say So'.

Band of Skulls first hit the scene in 2009 with their first release of "Baby Darling Doll Face Honey". In the time since they've come a long way, delivering more music in 2019 with "Love Is All You Love". They will be going on tour soon, with shows in Matlock and Ware.

Jay McAllister first rose to prominence as a folk music act in 2005 under the moniker of Beans on Toast, opening the Glastonbury Festival that year and every year since. In 2008 he supported Kate Nash at her Hammersmith Apollo show, and released a 50 track debut album 'Standing On a Chair' in 2009. The album was produced by Ben Lovett of Mumford & Sons, and features vocals by Emmy The Great, Frank Turner and more.

Bringing the funk and sense of 80's bombastic fun into modern rock music, Don Broco are carving their own niche in contemporary Britian's music scene. Embarking on arena tours supporting the likes of 5 Seconds of Summer as well as headlining the legendary Brixton Academy on their second album as part of the Kerrang! Tour, the band are becoming a stalwart of the live scene, and with tunes this massive it's with good reason.

Their murky, post-punk sound that defined the 80s thrust Echo and the Bunnymen into the league of the Violent Femmes and Joy Division. In their career spanning four decades, the group have released 12 albums, and provided the soundtrack to cult movie ‘Donnie Darko’. This year, they return with their new album entitled ‘The Stars, The Oceans & The Moon’. 

The group originally formed in the 1970s as the Crucial Three, featuring Pete Wylie, Julian Cope and Ian McCulloch. After the former two left, McCulloch recorded alongside Will Sergeant, Les Pattinson and Pete de Freitas. From the release of their debut album ‘Crocodiles’ in 1980, the band since accumulated a series of Top 40 hits and Top Ten albums in the UK. 

The band’s history was not always smooth, seeing lead vocalist McCulloch leave to pursue a solo career and the tragic motorcycle accident where de Freitas sadly passed away in 1989. After wavering success with their music and more changes of group members, McCulloch was eventually reunited with Sergeant, who currently make up the formation of the band. 

Their latest album features tracks such as ‘The Cutter’ and ‘Bring on the Dancing Horses’, entailing many of their previous tracks remastered and rearranged, alongside a few newbies.

Echo and the Bunnymen

The English alternative rock band consisting of Guy Garvey (vocals, guitar), Craig Potter (keyboard, piano, backing vocals), Mark Potter (guitar, backing vocals) and Pete Turner (bass guitar, backing vocals). The band have 6 studio albums and won the Mercury Music Prize for their album The Seldom Seen Kid, and in 2009 they won the Brit Award for Best British Group.

Oxford rock band Foals formed in 2005, debuting with 'Antidotes' in 2008. In 2010, they followed up with their Sophomore album 'Total Life Forever', earning the band a Mercury Prize nomination as well as nominations for Best Album and Best Cover Artwork at the NME Awards. They are generally considered to be one of the best live acts in the UK, earning accolades from Q and NME for their live performances.

Scottish rock band Franz Ferdinand are one of the most notable post-punk revival bands out there, famed for their second album 'You Could Have It So Much Better'. They have been nominated for several Grammys and have won two Brit Awards throughout their career, and are due to return after five years without new music in 2018 with a new album, 'Always Ascending'.

Glass Caves entered the scene in 2013 after revealing "Glass Caves EP". In the time since they've come a long way, coming back in 2016 with "Do You Have a Name". They will be going on tour soon, with shows in Huddersfield and Matlock.

Happy Mondays found their start in 1985 after releasing "Forty Five EP". Over the years they've continued on strongly after returning in 2007 with "Uncle Dysfunktional". They will be hitting the road soon, with shows in London, Manchester and Newcastle.

Having debuted in 2017 with 'Brutalism', Idles grew out out of Bristol after vocalist Joe Talbot and bassist Adam Devonshire decided to start a band. Throughout the five year build up to their debut album, the band released several EPs and singles like 'Welcome', 'Meet' and 'Meta'.

Jax Jones entered the scene in 2014 with his first release "Go Deep". Following that he has matured into his sound, coming back in 2018 with "Snacks". He will be hitting the road soon, with shows in Coventry, Blackpool and Penrith.

KASHMERE entered the scene in 2004 with their first release "Backhand Slap Talk / Technical Illness". In the time since they've grown into their own, delivering more music in 2010 with "Galaktus: Power Cosmic".

It was 2007 that brought us the smash hit “Foundations” by Britain’s own singer, songwriter, and musician Kate Nash. Going on to win Best British Female Artist at the 2008 Brit’s, Kate’s number one debut Made of Bricks, cemented her in the indie-pop scene. 

With her third and latest album released back in 2013, Kate has been somewhat inactive until the release of her 4-track EP Agenda this April. Kate will be performing across the UK this August.

Reverend And The Makers emerged in 2007 after releasing "He Said He Loved Me". Throughout they've weaved their own path in music having returned in 2015 with "Mirrors". They will be going on tour soon, with shows in Warrington and Matlock.

Lucy Rose is back this year with her third studio album, ‘Something’s Changing’. The singer-songwriter first began her journey with music at a young age when she played drums for her school’s orchestra and writing songs at home on the family piano. After buying a guitar on a whim on the way to school, Rose started writing music more earnestly, but it wasn’t until she moved away to London and met Jack Steadman, the frontman of Bombay Bicycle Club. 

He convinced her to sing backing vocals on some of their tracks, and eventually, she began recording her own album in 2012. By May of that year she had signed with Columbia Records, and released her album ‘Like I Used To’ in September. Several of her songs made their way onto TV, with “Don’t You Worry” appearing on ‘Skins’, ‘Be Alright’ featuring in ‘The Vampire Diaries’, and ‘Night Bus’ playing in an episode of the MTV reality show ‘Catfish: The TV Show’.

Mahalia is the self-proclaimed psycho acoustic soul musician from Leicester, and a veritable musical prodigy. At just eight years old she had written her first song, and by 13 she had signed a deal with a major label. There was no rush to get something out there however, as she spent four years letting her music develop and grow before releasing her EP ‘Never Change’ at 17 years old.

She’s toured with everyone from Emeli Sandé to Ed Sheeran and even Kendrick Lamar, and has been working with the producer behind Drake’s ‘Hotline Bling’, and she’s back now with her latest single ‘Sober’.

Folk band Skinny Lister formed in 2009 having met through the network of Greenwich's folk clubs, going on to tour extensively in 2011 and debuting with 'Forge & Flagon' in 2012. Their third album, 'The Devil, the Heart and the Fight' was released in 2016, with group rumoured to be back in the studio working on a fourth.

The Big Moon grew out of vocalist Juliette Jackson’s bedroom, when all she had was a love of music and a thirst to share it. After reaching out to friends for anyone who wanted to play together, Soph Nathan (guitar), Celia Archer (bass) and Fern Ford (drums) stepped forward and The Big Moon was formed. 

They released their debut album ‘Love in the 4th Dimension’ in 2017, grabbing a spot-on shortlist for the Mercury Awards. Before that, the four London girls had already cut their teeth on the tour circuit, opening for acts such as the Maccabees, Ezra Furman and the Vaccines, as well as performing on the William’s Green Stage at Glastonbury 2017.

One of the original pioneers of the UK's first wave of punk rock, The Damned are arguably one of the most influential band's in British history. Despite a couple of disbandings, and subsequently quick reformations, they've been a consistent voice on the UK music scene since 1976. They also evolved into one of the progenitors of the gothic punk movement during the 80s as well as influencing the hardcore punk movement with their trademark sense of pace and energy.

The Hubbards entered the industry in 2006 when they released "I'm Still Here". In the time since they've matured into their sound, bringing out more music in 2014 with "Is It Me?".

The Hunna, a new band on the scene, having formed only in 2015 in Hertfordshire, England, are an indie rock group known for their eclectic range of inspiration from hip-hop to alternative. 

In 2015, they released “Bonfires” and “She’s Casual” before later releasing their sixteen-track debut album, 100 in 2016. This soared to the top of the charts, quickly hitting no. 3 on the UK Indie chart, and even reaching no. 36 on the US Heat Seekers chart. The title track, “You and Me” also found success abroad peaking at no. 28 on the US Alternative songs chart.

The Rifles first came to be in 2003 with the unveiling of "The Dreams of a Bumblebee". Since then they've flourished as an artist, after returning in 2016 with "Big Life". They will be touring the country soon, with shows in London, Manchester and Birmingham.

The Subways began in 2004 when they unveiled "1 A.M.". Throughout they've flourished as an artist, delivering more music in 2015 with "The Subways". They will be heading out on tour soon, with shows in Caerphilly, Penrith and Matlock.

Twisted Wheel first emerged in 2008 after revealing "Lucy the Castle". Following that they've grown into their own, having returned in 2009 with "Twisted Wheel". They will be playing soon, with shows in Dublin, London and Newcastle.

The Irish band Two Door Cinema Club have been at the forefront of indie music for the last few years. The band consists of Alex Trimble (vocals, Guitar), Sam Halliday (Lead Guitar, backing vocals) and Kevin Baird (bass, backing vocals) the band's debut album Tourist history topped the Irish charts and saw success in America and the UK. 

The band followed this up with two more studio albums and now can be seen touring all around the UK.

white lies entered the scene in 2008 when they released "Unfinished Business". Over the years they've continued on strongly having returned in 2016 with "Hold Back Your Love". They will be hitting the road soon, with shows in London, Leeds and Matlock.

The English alternative rock band from north London consisting of Ellie Roswell (vocals, guitar), Joff Oddie(guitar, vocals Theo Ellis (bass) and Joel Amey (drums, vocals). After releasing a few singles such as “Fluffy” and “Bros” and receiving a great fan base and positive critics, Wolf Alice brought out their debut album “MY love is Cool” in the UK and U.S in 2015. Since then they have been nominated for the Grammy Awards for Best Rock Performance in 2016 and critics have big hopes for the band in the future.

Tottenham rapper Wretch 32 debuted in 2008 with 'Wretchrospective', and was named as one of the BBC Sound nominees for Sound of 2011. That year he released his second album 'Black and White' , and went on tour with Example in 2012.

You Me At Six entered the scene in 2006 with their first track ‘We Know What It Means to Be Alone’. They have since cultivated a strong fanbase, growing from catchy choruses in their early teenage rock phase, to the bolder sounds of more traditional rock in recent releases. The latter is expected to appease fans in upcoming tours and gigs.

The band first got together in 2004, going through changes to membership and releasing two EPs. The band name, often abbreviated to YMAS, was apparently cited after their Friday night plans with pals, and was decided upon in a hurry to print a flyer for an upcoming show. 

As time went on, the band’s name became recognised among many fans listening to the likes of Blink 182 and Fall Out Boy, the latter of whom the band supported on tour in 2008. The same year, YMAS released their debut album ‘Take Off Your Colours’, which featured the likes of ‘If I Were in Your Shoes’, ‘Kiss and Tell’ and ‘Gossip’ and peaked at number 25 in the UK Albums Chart. They also received nominations at the Kerrang! Awards for ‘Best British Band’ in 2009, going on to win the same award in 2011. 

After 14 years since inception, the five musicians have released five albums, their sixth, ‘VI’, being released in October 2018. They have toured with the likes of Thirty Seconds to Mars, All Time Low, and friends Paramore, over the years, and are now headlining their own around the UK.

British comedian Phill Jupitus is a man of many talents: actor, poet, cartoonist, podcaster. He spent nearly 20 years as a team captain on 'Never Mind the Buzzcocks' from 1996 until 2015, regularly appearing on other panel shows such as 'QI' and 'I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue'.

Airways are a young and fresh take on britpop, sporting a sound like that of Arctic Monkeys meets Gorillaz. The four-piece began in 2015, after singer Jake and drummer Brian met in LA and decided to start a band spontaneously. The two returned to Jake's home of Peterborough, recruiting friends Alex and Jamie to complete their lineup.

In just three years, Dublin native Dermot Kennedy went from starting off his musical journey to selling out venues in London and having over 19 million streams on Spotify. His first headline show was at a packed out Unitarian Church in Dublin, and he has supported acts like Glen Hansard and James Vincent McMorrow on tour. 

Earlier in 2017, Kennedy release his ‘Doves & Ravens’ EP, a darker take on his usual folk music, with hints of electronic. The Pigeon Detectives are an English indie rock band from Rothwell in Leeds, West Yorkshire, who formed in 2004.

A young and upcoming group from Merthyr, Wales, are climbing the ladder quickly having signed in to Virgin EMI records in 2015, to playing the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury in the same year, to even turning down a spot supporting Muse because it would have only been their 5th show and they felt they needed more preparation. 

The young men, still only in their teens, shot to fame thanks to an early song finding success online, showcasing their raw and energetic rock’n’roll, taking listeners back to a sound reminiscent of the 90s. Meaning ‘Fort of the Foreigners’, Donegal has been present in Irish history almost back to the prehistoric era, with archaeological remans of ringforts and other defensive earthworks being found around the city. It is famed for being the former centre of government for the O’Donnell dynasty, a great Gaelic royal family that ruled in West Ulster for many centuries and played a pivotal role in Irish History.

The Welsh capital is a powerhouse for culture in wales. The city houses the incredible sporting venues like the Millennium  Stadium ( home of the Wales Rugby Team), Cardiff City Stadium ( home of Cardiff City ) Cardiff International Sports Stadium and Cardiff Arms Park. 

Is it any words the Cardiff was European City of Sport twice? Not that it's all about sport. The capital plays host to the BBC drama village and a whole host of excellent live music venues and theatres to fuel its cultural populace.

Motorpoint Arena Cardiff is an indoor exhibition centre and events arena located in Cardiff, the capital of Wales, and was opened in September 1993 by singer Shirley Bassey. Its current name is due to a five-year sponsorship agreement.

Glasgow

Scotland’s largest city Glasgow is second to none in the country when it comes to entertainment. From its history as Scotland's largest seaport, Glasgow is now the cultural hub of Scotland, serving as home to fantastic art galleries, theatres and live music venues. 

Glasgow's position as Scotland's main powerhouse means that it is blessed with hosting many of Scotland's national arts organisations, including Scottish Opera and Scottish Ballet whose performance home can be found at the city's Theatre Royal. The O2 Academy, Glasgow may be one of Glasgow’s newest music venues but it’s already one of its most influential. One of AMG’s two venues in Glasgow along with the O2 ABC, the 2,500-capacity O2 Academy is one of Scotland’s premier venues for rock, indie, club nights and comedy.

The O2 Academy takes pride of place on the former site of the Eglinton St United Secession Church which was built in 1825 and became the New Bedford Picture House in 1921. The entire venue was burnt down in 1932 but quickly rose again by the end of the year, operating until 1973. The Grade B listed building spent the next two decades being used as a bingo hall until it fell into disuse in 1993, staying dormant until it underwent a £3m refurbishment and reopened as a music venue in 2003.

Since it opened on 26 March 2003 with a line-up of Deacon Blue, Bryan Ferry and the Sugababes, the O2 Academy has made its mark on Glasgow’s event scene. It was the site of James Brown’s last ever UK gig and is regularly frequented by comedian Frankie Boyle, who holds the record for performing at the Academy more than anyone else.

London offers a wealth of experiences at every possible level. Want to look over the city from atop the London Eye? You can do that. If getting sweaty at an underground club night in Brixton is more your bag, that's OK too. Whether you want to see everything the city has to offer or really get underneath the skin of a suburb, London is sure to give you memories that will last.

Perhaps the country’s most recognisable venue, The O2 is one of the UK’s largest indoor arenas with a capacity of up to 20,000. It was built into the former Millenium Dome, retaining some of the original features. Since first opening its doors in 2007 with a celebratory concert by Bon Jovi, the O2 has gained a reputation for being a household venue in entertainment. 

The past decade has seen the likes of Justin Bieber, Kylie Minogue, Rihanna, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar and Paramore perform in the state-of-the-art arena. Also a prominent venue in the world of sports, The O2 arena hosted the 2012 Summer Olympics and Paralympics, undergoing a temporary name change to the North Greenwich Arena. Heavyweight champion, David Haye, fought there in 2016, and the prestigious ATP World Finals has been an annual occurence since 2009. 

Expanding over the years, the O2 has sprouted many sub-venues. Indigo at the O2 is a smaller live music club, often used for after parties, private events and smaller gigs. Up at the O2 opened in 2012, inviting visitors to climb the building for panoramic views over London. Further outlining its dominance in entertainment, the O2 also features a bowling alley, exhibition space, and many dining facilities.

Plymouth

With a history that dates back to the bronze age, the commercial shipping port of Plymouth has moved with the times to become one of the most exciting cities in the UK for a night out. It's so far south it even picks up some of that mythical sunshine now and then. Plymouth Pavilions is well set up to hold the best gigs from national and international artists alike with support from the likes of The Junction, The Hub and The Underground. The best in local DJs provide incredible soundtracks to your evening in the Factory and Pop World all year round.

Dublin

Ireland's largest and most important city Dublin has the potential to charm any visitor. Visitors can wander down the cobbled streets of Temble Bar, listen to authentic Irish folk musicians play live or explore the greenery of Phoenix Park.

After growing from a Viking settlement and becoming Ireland's main city of the Norman invasion, Dublin is bursting with culture and intrigue. You can explore the grand surroundings of Dublin Castle or check out the modern Spire of Dublin on O'Connell Street before heading out for a night of entertainment. 

Dublin's nightlife is as vibrant as the people are friendly, with no shortage of pubs and fantastic music venues to demonstrate Ireland's famous warmth and humour. Music fans should look out for shows at Whelan's, Vicar Street or the enormous 3Arena. If theatre is more what you’re after, the Bord Gais Energy Theatre offers up a whole host of plays and musicals throughout the year.

Whether you’re in the mood for classic and clever comedy, listening to some of the biggest musical acts around, or wanting to catch the next large-scale Christmas panto with the kids, Olympia’s diverse programme ensures Dublin is always fed new and exciting entertainment of all kinds. 

It first opened in 1879, sat across from Dublin Castle, in an effort to bring the success of owner Dan Lowrey’s UK Music Hall Theatres to Ireland. It was designed by John J. Callaghan, a renowned architect of the late 19th century, however changed over the years due to its need for structural amendments, the collapse of a ceiling during a production, and a truck crashing into the site. It also changed names, starting out as Lowrey’s ‘Star of Erin Music Hall’ before becoming the Olympia in 1923 and gaining a brand new art deco facade to showcase its new title.

In over a century of providing entertainment, many famous performers have contributed to the theatre’s stature. The likes of Adele, The Killers, Radiohead, Laurel and Hardy, Charlie Chaplin and Billy Connolly have all taken to its stage, illustrating its varied, yet consistently impressive, lineup to date.
