About

3Arena is Ireland’s largest indoor amphitheatre. Formerly known as the O2, this 13,000-seater arena is one of the busiest music arenas in the world, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors per year to catch touring shows by the world’s biggest stars. 3Arena is a fairly new addition to the Irish cultural scene after it opened in 2008 on the site of the smaller former music venue the Point Theatre, which closed in 2007. Boasting a capacity of 13,000 people, the 3Arena is a particularly distinctive place to catch a show thanks to its fan-shaped seating arrangement which has been likened to the Roman Coliseum. 3Arena’s amphitheatre rather than traditional arena structure makes it a more sophisticated venue than its grungy predecessor, The Point, and allows those even in the cheapest seats to be close to the action. 3Arena may only have been open for just over a decade but it has already established a history of its own. Just a few of the historic concerts to have taken place at the venue include a notoriously late gig by Guns ‘N’ Roses in 2010, Rammstein’s first ever Ireland concert in 2012 and four homecoming concerts by Dublin exports U2 in November 2015.
