Aberdeen's historic Music Hall is one of Scotland's treasures. Since its construction in the Victorian era, this regional music hall has become loved for its fantastic acoustics. It recently reopened its doors after a multi-million pound two-year restoration. You can pick up your tickets for Music Hall events here at TickX.
The iconic Music Hall boasts a rich history after it was designed by Archibald Simpson and built in 1822. The building first opened as a concert hall in 1856 and hosted Aberdeen's first cinema screening in 1896. Since then it has hosted concerts, comedy, variety, exhibitions, and arts and crafts fairs.
The Music Hall is now the second largest of Aberdeen Performing Arts' three arts venues in the city of Aberdeen. The two venues the council body also operates are His Majesty's Theatre and the Lemon Tree. This atmospheric building briefly closed for renovation in 2016. It reopened in December 2018 after a £9m investment.
The Music Hall is a key part of north-east Scotland's classical music circuit. Orchestras it regularly welcomes include the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. It also regularly hosts pop and rock artists - David Bowie, Led Zeppelin and Morrissey are among the artists to have played there.
The Music Hall can hold a total of 1,281 people sitting down in its stalls. This spacious room's fantastic sound quality makes it an ideal place just to let the music wash over you. Its grand interior also provides a beautiful backdrop for any show you're attending.
Despite its long-running history, Aberdeen's Music Hall is unquestionably on par with any modern music venue. You won't find a grand performance space like this anywhere else in Aberdeen. You can find the best Music Hall tickets right here at TickX.
